Thank you,

Jerry, buying my Belgian Malinois Arko from you was honestly the best decision I made. First off you made the process very easy and smooth. You were very honest and upfront and I loved that. You breed very strong, solid and sociable dogs. The transition bringing him home was effortless due to the first 8 weeks he was with you. His energy and driven were exactly what you told me they'd be. I am beyond excited with my future with him as we go through training and he gets his schutzhund / ipo title!! Again, I couldn't be happier with the pup.
Thank you,
David Caruso
Andy and I want to tell you how much we absolutely love Pepper. She is incredibly smart and for a 6 month old mali puppy extremely well behaved. We went into this knowing we were getting a high drive dog and were prepared to put in the time. We have been using Michael Ellis and Leerburg training methods with food and we are very pleased with how much she has learned. She has to work for everything she gets. Thank you for breeding such a wonderful dog.
A couple of questions :)
We don't plan to breed her, is there an specific age you would recommend getting her fixed?
We are feeding her honest kitchen - dehydrated raw full diet with chicken necks. (3 necks each meal) She is about 33 lbs and looks very fit. I would like to start giving her bigger bones, chicken quarters and backs, but I am worried. She still swallows the chicken necks whole. What age would you recommend introducing larger pieces of raw meat?
Thanks so much for any advice you can offer.
Kind regards,
Laurie
As a result, Dallas, our German Shepherd, joined our family:)! From the start, Dallas was gentle, incredibly sweet and a dream to train. He was the perfect fit for our family and he has been an incredible gift to all of us!
Shortly after Ella passed, our kids were already on Jerry's website looking for our newest family member. Not really sure if we were ready for another dog after losing Ella, we reached out to Jerry to inquire about some of the dogs we read about online. Due to our busy family with five very active children ranging in age from thirteen to four, she would have to be the perfect dog.
Hope, our beautiful new German Shepherd, is here and we adore her!! She is everything she was described to be. She is sweet like her brother and excellent around all of our kids, friends and extended family who are a big part of our life. Our only mistake is we should have named her, "Joy". She exudes it every day as she plays, runs and just hangs out with all of us:):)!! We could not love her more and we are so thankful for Hope and Dallas!!
With deep gratitude,
The Lesher family

Hi Jerry, I'm one of the students that attended the Tom Rose School and bought two puppies from you earlier this year. I did incredibly well with both of them while in school, graduating at the top of my class in both the Professional and Master trainer courses. I achieved some of the highest obedience scores they have seen in a long time with such young dogs. If you're interested in seeing a promo video that was made of me and the two pups for my new business check out this youtube link.
The older one, with the darker mask, was born 10/25/13 out of Jasta and Cairo, and the younger, lighter colored one was born 12/16/13 out of Wassam and Kelly. They are both females, and in the video they are 10 months and 8 months old respectively.
Jerry,
I'm writing to tell you and your customers about my experience with Mace's Malinois.
About three weeks ago I started searching for a protection dog online. I sent dozens of emails to dozens of different companies advertising fully trained protection dogs for sale. I might have received two or three responses after several days of waiting. I spoke to the owner of one such company who asked me a few questions about what I was looking for in a protection dog. He boasted to me about his $20,000 dollar dogs and said for any less than $20,000 I was throwing my money away. It was not a long conversation. To this very day I have not received another response from any of the "other guys".
Luckily I stumbled upon your website and saw Titan (Xenon von der Eichendorfschule). At this point I had already begun to lose hope of ever finding a dog in my price range. I sent you a very short email inquiry, "How much?". I think you responded back within an hour.
What I immediately liked about our phone conversation was your honesty about Titan and your business practices.
I found you to be honest and blunt about Titan. I knew he was a special dog to you personally. You explained how you give away breeding females after six years for the simple fact you would rather see the dogs enjoy a life with a family than be breed until the day they die. While not a profitable choice, it is the right thing to do. I challenge anyone to find a breeder who is more compassionate about their dogs than you are.
Back to Titan... After we came to an incredible agreement, I spent the next two weeks making a few trips down to the kennel to work with Titan under you and Margaret's close supervision. I pity the people who buy dogs and do not get the one-on-one attention I got from two trainers as experienced as you and Margaret.
Fast-forward to today. I met you at the kennel as usual. I worked with Titan for a few minutes and you offered to follow me home with Titan (a 2 hour drive). You brought Titan into my home and reiterated all the mistakes I should avoid to make the transfer a success. After you left we played with the balls in the backyard for a little while. I have done exactly as you instructed. I put Titan in his crate and left the house for about 30 minutes. I came back to find Titan calmly laying in his crate just as I left him. I have Titan on a slip lead in the house as you suggested, but it doesn't seem needed as he never leaves my side. As I write this review, Titan is very quietly and calmly laying at my feet. He is the epitome of "mans best friend". Titan is everything I have ever wanted in a dog and much more than I thought I would be able to afford. He is so gentle and well behaved. If I had not seen his protective capabilities for myself I would never believe it was the same dog. After being at our house for only a few hours he was already protective over me. I walked him in the yard tonight and he saw my own shadow against the side of the house and started to growl at my shadow which he thought was a strange man. I knew right then Titan would protect us without fail.
Prior to meeting you I foolishly believed all dogs were basically the same. I now know what a difference good breeding makes. I had to see it to believe it.
I'm looking forward to many years of friendship between us as we continue Titan's training and breeding. Someday in several years I will ask you to set one of Titan's puppies aside for me so I never lose his bloodline.
Obviously I'm blown away with the entire experience and can't say enough good things about you and your dogs. I'll never go anywhere else for a dog.
Many thanks,
Mike and Jessie Mason
Just wanted to give you an update on Abby. She has gone for her first annual and I would like to share some of the comments from the vet:
"Nice straight ears"
"Good sit"
"Beautiful teeth"
"Good skin and coat"
"Excellent body shape, very athletic"
I had her have a complete blood panel...everything is normal.
I no longer worry about her eating, I've introduced "raw" into her diet in the form of freeze-dried.
She is a great dog: sweet, loveable, protective, obedient, a great watch dog. She is just the perfect dog. Wish I was closer so I could have her better trained. I took your advise and did not have her spayed.
Congratulations on your expansion.
Regards, Pat Farley
Springfield cop and his furry partner are "Top Dog" again after a regional competition.
For the second year in a row, Patrolman Jeff Coker and his K9 partner, Kilo, placed first overall in the regional United States Police Canine Association trials at the Springfield Police Academy, beating out 30 other K9 teams.
Coker and Kilo placed first in the evidence search, suspect search, and the criminal apprehension with no gun fire events. They placed third in agility.
The two have been together for three and a half years, and they've built up a lot of trust.
"It's actually very relieving knowing that you have a K9 in your vehicle with you," Coker said. "He's an extra set of eyes that can look outside the vehicle, and plus, his nose is unbelievable what he can actually do for us and the department as a whole."
Coker and Kilo have qualified for the national competition, and they'll be taking their skills to Wilson, North Carolina for the week of October 19-24 to compete against other K9 teams from across the country.
Springfield Police officers Ryan Maddox, Timothy Day, Ronald Howard and their dogs also qualified for nationals.
Hey Jerry,
Out walking Malcolm this morning in neighborhood. A guy needed directions and said, "hey you got my dog-- a belgian malinois". He asked if I got him from Jerry Mace and told him yes. He said he has a 4 yr. old female out out Jasta and Mira and you have great dogs! Just thought I pass that along for you.
Hi Jerry,
Hi Jerry,
I wanted to update you on our Belgium Malinois we have purchased from you. She is 7 months old and very intelligent. She has a high pry drive as well as a high curiosity. She is a great protector and is very easily trained. She picks things up quickly.
She goes everywhere with me even to to Phil. Premium Outlet’s. I was surprised to know of all the places that welcome dogs.
We were wondering if we could get some info. From you on protection training for her. We do work with her, but would love to see her excel with professional help.
Thank you so much for making our family complete.
Our Malinois at Work!!!
Springfield police officer Jeff Coker and his partner Kilo placed first this past weekend in a competition that tested their crime-fighting skills against other canine teams.
For Kilo, a 3-year-old Belgium Malinois, the competition was just another day at the office.
“He’s very high intensity. He loves to work,” Coker said. “You want that high drive. You want a dog that doesn’t want to quit.”
Coker and Kilo were one of 21 canine teams from across Illinois and Missouri that competed in the USPCA Region 16 Canine Certification. The event, hosted by the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office, was held at Spartan Park in Chatham.
There were competitions in evidence recovery, suspect searches, agility and obedience.
Coker and Kilo placed first overall and finished second in the evidence search.
Sangamon County Deputy Brian Stapleton and partner Zaso finished second in agility and third in obedience, which enabled them to place third overall.
Stapleton also organized the weekend competition.
Kilo is trained as a dual-purpose dog, which means he can search a vehicle for hidden drugs, track suspects, and even detain an arrestee.
After hours, Kilo lives with Coker and his family.
“He’s very good with the family,” Coker said.
Coker and Stapleton were among five local teams that qualified for a national competition later this year. The other teams are Ron Howard and Jax, Tim Day and Thor and Ryan Machin and Arko, all with the Springfield Police Department.
Day and Thor finished fist in both evidence and suspect searches. Howard and Jax finished second in obedience and fifth overall.
First-place team honors also went to Coker, Day and Howard.
Machin was grouped with Sangamon County Deputy Coroner Bill Russell and his dog, Apex, and Officer Dave Heine from Granite City. They collectively finished third in the team competition.

We wanted to say hi and let you know that Oakley continues to be a super star for us and we could not be more happy with him. My family and I have never felt more safe. And he is constantly impressing us with how intelligent he is. By accident we discovered that he already knows how to do some tricks like shake hands and speak when asked to speak. This made us wonder what other tricks he may know. Would it be possible to find out what he may have been taught from his original owners? If this would be a big hassle its not that important in the grand scheme of things, we were just curious so we could continue those things with him. Hope all is well with you and yours and thanks again for this spectacular dog.

Thank you!
He sure is extremely willing to please and wants to interact with me constantly. I am super happy with him! For years I was planning to go with a Dutchie at some point. I always admired Malimois but never wanted to own one because many of them I have met are kind of....nervy.
Little Viper has proved me so wrong. He is such a cool solid puppy! Not a worry in the world:) He is so much fun to work with!
Thank you so much for breeding this boy!!!

Hi Jerry,
I'm very happy with Sheik, everybody is. He's great with my kids and all the other kids in the neighborhood.very well behaved and always right by my side. It's awesome how there are other dogs barking, getting excited and there's Sheik just chillin.
Fabian was great he's the real deal. It was a pleasure having him here for the three days.

Oakley is doing very well. He is so smart it is shocking at times. In fact the main reason why he gets a correction now (which is rare) is because he anticipates what his next command is and does it before we give the command. The program that Fabian set up for us has been extremely helpful. It was so wonderful to have him here and give us a customized handlers course. Fabian truly understands dogs. Oakley is a much happier dog now and in turn we are very happy with his progress. When we are in public with Oakley we not only get complements on his looks but his behavior.
I was walking him the other day and there was a woman walking her dog across the street from us. She was having a very difficult time controlling her dog as he wanted to come across the street towards us. Oakley behaved so well. He did not bark at the other dog nor the workers standing 10 feet in front of us. I simply told Oakley to sit. We waited forth e woman to get control of her dog and walk past. As we restarted our walk the workers in front of us looked at Oakley and said " Wow that was impressive!" I nodded and said yes he is a very impressive dog. He is doing a great job now at getting used to our busy house. Also, Oakley and our youngest son have also found some common ground. Mason now likes to come up to Oakley and gently pet his back and Oakley is more than happy to let him. Fabian was instrumental in correcting that situation. We are so happy to have Oakley in our lives.
We also wanted to thank you for sending all of Oakley's papers. They arrived right before we had his first vet visit and were extremely helpful. It was so nice to have those records and see that he was up to date on all his shots. The vet told us that he looked fantastic and we could not agree more.
We hope all is well with you and yours. And thanks again for providing us with such a wonderful dog.

Just wanted to drop you a line and let you know we named the puppy Sookie and she is doing very well. A great challenge for us, but we are up to it. She fits in our family very well and seems to be very happy. She is a well behaved dog and is very easily trained. We love her very much. She gets along with our Doberman well. I am sending you some up dated pics of her.
Thank you again an we will stay intouch. We talked about poss. getting another, but I think we will wait just a bit longer...lol...

Puppy is doing great (we named her Kya).
You were right about obedience classes - she's way ahead of the rest of the class. The trainer is John Wadsworth, he works a lot with military and K9 dogs so he loves having her in class. Potty training was a breeze, she's very loyal and obedient - all around a great pup.
She's a tough girl, and always the dominant over other dogs. She has great prey drive, we're still contemplating doing Sch with her.
Thanks for a great pup!

Hey Jerry... good story for you.
Last night my mom let Anja out to go to the bathroom around 3am and realized someone was breaking into our cars. My moms first instinct was to yell "Anja get him".... No shit, my completely domesticated Malinois who carries a stuffed toy 24/7 and has NEVER had an ounce of protection or bite work leaped into action with that command and chased the guy down, jumping on him and knocking him down in our front yard. I could NOT be more proud.
It really goes to show there is something to nature vs nurture, she may be a big baby but when needed she could sense my moms fear and tell in her tone that she needed to help take care of the bad guy... I'm such a proud mom! And so thankful we have her to protect our family. I'm forever grateful for you & this awesome dog!

Jerry,
This is Annie, I bought a female black German Shepherd from you in October. Israel is such a wonderful little puppy. She'll be starting her Search and Rescue training here in a few weeks and if you are interested I'll keep you updated on her progress in school.
She is a highly intelligent dog Jerry and very loving with a very high drive. She was potty trained in less then a day, plays fetch, understands basic commands such as sit, down, out, and is high energy. I call her my little energizer bunny! I walk her three miles a day and she still has energy to burn so we've upped are daily walks to 5 miles.
She is an Amazing dog Jerry, and I'm so happy with her that I've been thinking about buying another female from you in the near future. I saw Pinny your adult German Shepherd for Sale, I really like her colors, if you have any future litters with a similar color I would be overjoyed in making arrangements in buying another dog or puppy from you. I don't know how much you are asking for Pinny, but if you have future litters with similar characteristics and body structure I'd be really interested.
Thank you,
Anne Franciose.

Hi Jerry!
Things have been great with Hunter since his last visit with you. He is really an amazing dog – way smarter than I could have ever imagined. Took me a while to understand that he is different from all of the Labradors that I have enjoyed over the years but once you taught us how to act around him, things have been fun for us all. Hunter swims in the creek near our house and finds the sticks we throw in the water. Loves to hide and find balls and toys in the house and is a very high jumper when going for a ball in the yard. We have just introduced agility jumping and he is a pro – it’s really cool to see how quickly he picks up new things. I can’t thank you enough for your help!

Hi Jerry,
This is the Zelinsky family, we wanted to update you and share a picture of Rylee (tenacity). Hard to believe she is a year old, she has the funniest personality and brought so much life to our home.
We had enrolled her in a training program (with other Malinois) and we are told she is the best dog in class. She even received her Canine Good Citizen Certificate. We are so pleased with how far she has come and very proud to have her.
Sincerely,
Zelinsky Family

Hi Jerry,
Just touching base, looks like we may be looking for 2 new dogs for a late fall k9 class to replace 2 retiring dogs.
Both dual purpose: 1 narc / 1 explosive. I am very happy so far with ARKO and YANKEE (KILO) . I have seen ASIA work, would be about right by class. What do you think about her work ? Or any other prospects you may have. I know it's early but just trying to get early start !

Jerry,
Just wanted to thank you. Rent is a different dog. She has not displayed the timid behavior at all since being home. We had company over last night and she was great even played tug-o-war in the living room. Lol. Funny thing is our boxer notices it too, and the two play much more. I have been taking her to different places to play ball. I ordered a horse whip, it should be here in a few days. I also am going to see Vicki on Thursday to start a basics class. Thanks again. I'll keep you updated.

Hey Jerry,
Just wanted to give you an update on our 7 month old Kaiser. He is doing great with his training and wants to play all day long. Everyday he does something new it is so fun to watch him figure things out. He is so smart we really need to watch him. He already figured out how to open the basement and front glass door. We are so pleased we are with our decision to purchase a pup from you.
When we spoke on the phone with you about him initially you kept saying how much drive he had and now we know what you were seeing in him. We recently purchased a bite pillow from Leerburg and we were shocked at how Kaiser reacted to it. As fast as we held up the pillow for the first time, he bit down and wouldn't let go. We were absolutely amazed! It was like he just knew instinctively that was what he needed to do. He has a unbelievably strong bite. We had a hard time getting him to release the pillow. We truly believe it is because of your line of dogs he is the way he is.
We couldn't be happier with him and we just wanted to say thank you! Here are a few pictures of him from 1-13-2012.
Thanks again
Kristin and Sean Mason

Just a note to let you know that you were absolutely correct,
Bubba is an AWESOME dog. Housebroken in the first two days, he already knows sit, shake, down, and come commands in less than a week....... for a 14 week old dog, this is amazing. He is absolutely the most gentle puppy I have ever been around, without any shyness or hesitation on his part which might indicate some kind of less than desirable trait....he is just all around GREAT.
Also, he immediately bonded closely with my wife and kids, to the extent that during a football game over the weekend a young man shouted and jumped in my wife's face (all in fun), and Bubba instantly came from across the room and placed himself barking and growling between the guy and my wife.....again, amazing at 14 weeks. Also, as of today, both of his ears are up.
Just wanted to say thanks again and give you a quick update.

Hi Jerry!
I'm Brandon's fiance Christine. I just wanted to thank you for selling us Nico (Olive). She is such a sweet baby! We absolutely love her! She is very cuddly but she is such a little brut! We are down a laptop cord and an Ipod cord...lol My daughter has found a new friend and just adores her! She took to our dogs very well and the one we have had issues with (Lucy) has actually been better since we got Nico! Lucy has not peed in the house at all since she has been here and Lucy has taken on almost a motherly position with the baby. Its really cute! Anyway, thanks again she has brought a lot of joy to my little one and us too. She's a great dog :)

Hi Jerry,
Just wanted to let you know that it's been about 3 weeks now since
we'very picked up our female Sidney. We are keeping our fingers crossed
because everything is going so well. She was house trained in about a
week and already knows some basic commands such as sit, down and come.
She is such a pleasant dog with a great temperament. Her intelligence
and attentiveness is remarkable. We've always had German Shepherds in
the past and we are surprised by how much more advanced she is as a
puppy compared to them. The biggest plus is that she gets along great
with our cat. Her and our shephard are great buddies already

Hi Jerry... He is doing very well, we are so pleased with him and how
well he is adjusting to living with us. I am amazed everyday by his
intelligence. Potty training was VERY easy. He has only had 2 or 3
accidents and we take blame for them -- each time we did not take him
outside quick enough when he was giving us cues that he needed to go
out. He is awesome at sitting by the door and giving a little whine when
he needs to go out..I have never seen an 8 week old puppy do that so
quickly!
The first few times being in the kennel was not his
favorite but he now goes in with no problems and will spent the entire
night in there as well.
We have continued socializing him as
Leslie started (and she obviously has done a great job with him). So far
he has been introduced to children and a variety of different dogs --
from a chihuahua to a large rottweiler. We have been careful to only
expose him to well trained dogs so he does not get scared by them.
We couldn't be more pleased, he is a great addition to our home. Thank you (and Leslie) very much for everything.

Hi Jerry-
I just wanted to let you know how AWESOME Vegas is doing! She has been home for 2 months now and things are going great! The weather has put a damper on getting her outside as much as I would like but, her and Dakota are pals. She has her moments that she tries to push him around but, we are all over it now. She sits/stays/comes for everything now. I had her tail amputated, she has a 4" nub but, it has healed excellent AND... She no longer chases her tail or spins obsessively! WOO HOO!
I can't possibly thank you enough for your help and guidance. Letting her stay with you was the best decision I have made! We spent $1,000's over the past two years at the vet and the University of Penn on tests, blood work and medication etc. and all she needed was to be drug-free and have a little discipline in her life!
Thank you (and Beth) again-
Brandi and Dave Rode
Ps. We can't wait until spring so we can bring Vegas to play with the other dogs!

Re: Puppy She's doing really well.
Thank god the first 2 nights are over because she definitely made it known that being in her crate wasn't her most favorite place. She's doing amazing with the kids, and she's only had 3 accidents in the house so far. She really takes to Joe, but now that he's back to work I have a feeling she's gonna be my sidekick now. She loves the snow and gets pissed off when she tries to bite it and it melts in her mouth. Lol. I haven't posted any pictures yet because we were keeping her secret so no family would come bombard our home wanting to see her so she could get used to us first, but half of them know now so I can finally post some tomorrow! She has a big puppy bed and the kids like getting in it with her, so I'll post some pictures of that! Obedience wise, she's pretty receptive to what we say. I've been doing the loud ow and she stops biting right away and nuzzles me to make sure I'm OK. She likes chewing on the area rug so we just say no and give her one of her chew toys. I can tell already how much easier she is going to be to train then past dogs!
Thanks again Jerry, She's exactly what we were looking for!

He is doing well. He's much calmer and controlled. He has had some tiffs with me where he's jumped up once and started to play bite me. Unfortunately, I didn't have the shock collar on at that time so I layed him down on the ground on his side and layed with my knee on him until he settled down and realized I was in control. That's only happened once. Other than that he's been great. I really appreciate the work you put into him and the loss of skin too :) Eli (my boyfriend) and I continue to work with him daily on the commands/training tips you gave me. I'm walking him every morning and evening. So he's getting lots of exercise. Yesterday he went swimming in the Susquehanna too. Today he's at Eli's parents house playing with his best friend Ozzi, an American Bulldog. Thanks again and I will be in touch for future trainings and/or boarding.

We picked up Duncan today at Jerry's house. We can tell he got very attached to Jerry in the time he has been with him, but we are pleased at how well he is doing his first day with us. I think he may be missing Jerry a bit, but we are giving him lots of love and attention. The ride home was a bit challenging. We put Duncan in
the back seat of my car for the ride home and after traveling a few miles he decided he wanted to be up front with us. He climbed up onto my lap and I thought he was going to lay down, but he kept getting up.......so we decided to pull over, get him back into the back seat and Dan crawled in the back seat with him. He finally laid down after awhile and was trying to fall asleep, but wasn't sure if he wanted to. I think he was wondering where we were taking him.
When we got home, we left him out back to check out our yard. The neighbor who lives one house away had her 3 dogs outside and they were running up and down the fenced yard barking and Duncan was running back and forth in our yard barking at them. It was pretty hot, he ran up and down a few times and then decided he barked enough
and went and laid under our tree in the shade. He seems to enjoy laying on our tile floor in the kitchen and hallway, and seems to like laying on the mat in front of our front door. He hasn't tried to climb up on our furniture yet, but does seem to like the his bolster bed on our living room floor.
We set up a crate in our living room and will put Duncan in there while we are away for the first week or so since he is in a new environment. We asked Jerry about this, and he felt that he should do fine without being in the crate after a week or two.
He ate his Wellness Adult Breed dog food with no problem around 5:30 pm and we took him for a walk around 7:15 on the walking trail near our house and did well on his walk. He seems tired out now and after a long day I'm sure he'll sleep well.
Here are a few photos of Duncan. I didn't get any outside shots yet, but I'm sure I will have plenty in the next few days.
Thanks Jerry for doing a great job training Duncan, we will give you a call after you get back from vacation and will bring Duncan to your training class in July. Have a good time on your trip.
Thanks Dawn & Jamie for all your help with the adoption. I'll be sure to keep you updated on Duncan's progress, but from what I can tell after 1 day being here.......he's going to be an AWESOME dog! So Dawn - no need to worry any longer. :)

Hi, Jerry,
I wanted to thank you for helping our family with Ella, our New f. She will be 6 months old tomorrow and what a learning and growing experience this has been. I was thinking of you today as the kids were doing their homework and Ella was peacefully in the same room chewing on one of her chewies patiently waiting for her to be done because then the playtime begins. I was so thankful thinking how far we've all come and Greg and I know you played a huge role in it. Because of your help through the grace of God, our lives are richer and even better. Ella is such a blessing to us and you have been to. Thank you.
Mealtimes are still somewhat challenging and lately she has been lunging at cars when walking--any suggestions?, but everyday living is so much better. She is a joy to have and we love her.
Thanks again for all of help you have given our family. God has certainly blessed you with an incredible gift.
Sincerely,
Ali Lesher from Mechanicsburg

Hi Jerry, I appreciate contacting me so quickly. I will call you tomorrow or Monday to set up a time for a evaluation for Baron. I had just gotten done reading a letter from my sister in law from Buffalo telling me her Step Dad and his Wife had a dog that they were having problems with and the "Dog Whisperer" from Mt. Wolf took him for a month and he's a new dog and easily managed. I was surprised then to see I had a e-mail from you my mail is backed up on here and I'm trying to catch up before I set up another computer. We may have another snow on Monday and everything will be delayed once again. My SUV is parked down in Brogue at a friends house who knows when I can bring it back with the parking issue on Philadelphia St.

Hi Jerry,
Just a small note to tell you how Emmy is doing. She is the Black Tri Aussie that you have been working with in New Cumberland. She just got spayed a week ago. So she was a little quite the last few days.. however, she is more and more herself each day. She is doing very well. As far as what you trained us to do with her, she has it going on. She sits, stays, comes and even "high fives" us at times.. She is awesome. You made a comment that she is about an 8 out of 10 in terms of her training thus far with what you taught us, but I believe now she is a 9 out of 10.. improving each time we work with her.
She is a much better dog when she is fully exercised.. your absolutely right below. My Aussie is living proof.
The only other problem I would like to work on with her is barking at people when we go out for long walks,, I wouldn't mind, but she uses her out of control "defensive" bark and it scares people.. haha.. imagine that? I tell her No and pull up on her, but she keeps barking out of control at them..
Do you think Doggie Day Care twice a week may help with this??
Thank you for all that you have done for her thus far.

Hi, Mr. Mace.
I looked up the articles for socializing the dogs and cats and none came up. Are they in the archives or am I looking in the wrong place? Thanks for coming last night and educating us all. This morning was the most peaceful morning for us all. The kids really were listening last night along with all of their questions. They love to learn which is a wonderful thing and Greg and I are so grateful for your gift of teaching. Thank you for being a patient and excellent teacher. We are looking forward to our journey with Ella and our family of nine growing together as a "pack". Have a great weekend.
Thanks again.

Jerry: Just a little note letting you know how Sophie is doing.
We go to the trail at the old Hawke Lake GC and I take her off the leash for the entire almost two hours we are there. I put the remote training collar on just to be safe, but have never had to use it. She responds to a dog whistle I bought plus voice commands to "come." Since we have been doing this, she is a different dog and has become a real companion for me.
Thanks again for all the great training tips, both for her and for me!! If we ever need a "tune-up" I'll be I touch.

Hi Jerry - The pups are doing great! We have been so surprised with how much their behavior has improved in these last few months. Thanks to you they are now sitting, staying, and laying down on command. They heel beautifully when we take walks and are even getting so good at the "come" part we have been leaving them off the leash in some areas. Astro still has issues with meeting new people but has improved greatly since we have started having new people introduce themselves to him with a treat! That has worked really well! They were just at the vet and that went well also :0) They actually enjoy it there. Your advice and common sense with the pups has been invaluable to Seth and I. We would be happy to write a testimonial letter. Let me know what all I need to include?!
Thanks Jerry. - Leah

Jerry, you are absolutely killing me with your newsletters! Every time you come up with a dog that needs a home, I start this crusade to save these animals. First I think I'll take it and then realize I really can't! Then I'm on to everyone else I can think of. I'm so glad you found a home for T-Bone. Now I have these other two on my mind. I can't stand it. It is so wonderful of you to help these animals. God bless you. You do such good work. I pray always for you that because of the effort you have put into these animals, God will open up doors for you and find them a good home. Your newsletter I read today(animal cruelty) breaks my heart. I start reading these things and turn them off because It just kills me. And I ALWAYS end up going back and finishing it! If you keep it up I'm going to ask to be taken off your email list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just kidding. Anyway, you are doing a wonderful thing. Take Care and say hello to Beth and Sydney. Kim Kohl P.S. Maddie is doing great. Very BOSSY though! She never leaves my side. We are good PALS!!!!!!!!

Dear Jerry:
Thank you so much for everything you have done for our family. We cannot begin to thank you enough for the help you have given our family. Betty and Elkie are such obedient loving members of the family. We are constantly hearing from different people how well behaved our dogs are. It is a joy to include them in everything our family does. I hope our story is helpful .
September 2008 we lost our beloved pet Cassie. Cassie was a 12 year old husky Doberman mix. Her death was caused by complications from a 5 year battle with diabetes. Several months later the family decided the best way to honor our lost friend's memory was to rescue another dog. As a result, we began surfing petfinder.com. Several days later, we found an ad for a 2 year old yellow lab named Elkie that was extremely shy and in need of a good home. We were very excited about meeting her.
Upon meeting Elkie, we discovered that she was 4 ½ years old and spent her entire life in a puppy mill as a breeder dog. She had no voice because the mill owner brutally scarred her throat with a hot pipe never allowing her to bark again. She was extremely shy because all of her experience with humans had been abusive. Elkie shook uncontrollably when she saw us. When approached, Elkie would freeze, her pupils would dilate, and her expression became blank. It was as if she were leaving her body preparing herself to endure abuse. We immediately fell in love with Elkie. We were determined to give Elkie the love she needed to have the happy life she deserved.
Two days after bringing Elkie home she slipped out of her collar and took off for a run. She was so afraid of all human contact it took my husband and I 2 hours to catch her. The only reason I was finally able to catch her is that she was exhausted after 2 hours of all out running (luckily I was in training for a marathon). Once caught I carried Elkie a ½ mile home because she was frozen with fear at my touch.
Three weeks after bringing Elkie home she was still using the house as a toilet, and avoiding human contact whenever possible. My husband saw an ad in the community courier for Jerry Mace. We gave him a call because we just did not know what else to try. Jerry visited our home every week for about 3 months. Jerry taught us about dog and pack behavior. We learned how to interact with Elkie in a nonthreatening manner which helped us gain her trust. Obedience training gave Elkie much needed self confidence.
After consulting with Jerry, we adopted a 3 year old black lab named Betty whose owner had passed away. Jerry helped us train Betty and Elkie together. It is now 8 months after adopting Elkie. Both Elkie and Betty are happy well adjusted dogs. Betty is skilled at obeying the following commands: sit, stay, heel, and come. She will obey both verbal commands as well as hand signals. Elkie obeys the following commands: sit, stay, and come. Elkie no longer uses the house as her toilet. Both dogs stay in the yard with us without a leash.
Without the help of Jerry Mace we would still be struggling with toilet training and behavior problems. Elkie is now a rehabilitated, confident dog enjoying her life. She smiles all the time and now craves the love and attention that was so scary just months ago. Because of the confidence and knowledge Jerry has shared we are now fostering another puppy mill survivor. Thank you Jerry for our happy family!
Sincerely,
Pamela, Scott, and Zachary R.

Jerry came to our house for 4 hour long training sessions with both of our dogs. We have a German Shepherd mix named Katie, and a Cocker Spaniel named Chloe. Katie was always pretty well behaved, but timid around men, and barks a lot. Chloe was and is very hyper. We were having a lot of problems with her "bolting", soiling couches and beds, getting into trash cans, etc. Both dogs are very loving and attached to us, but for our sanity and theirs, we were hoping to eliminate some bad behaviors.
After 4 weeks of training over the winter season, the dogs are doing much better. We have established ourselves as much needed pack leaders. We have learned the proper way to use two different kinds of training collars. Now we are able to walk both dogs at a busy ball field with other people and dogs around, without a leash. If we are using the training collars inside, we are able to control some of the negative behaviors like barking and getting into things. Chloe has stopped running from us and has not soiled and furniture from the first day of training. Both dogs stay very close to us at all times. With Jerry's advice we were also able to try some new techniques to get Chloe through car rides without getting car sick. We know we can call Jerry with any questions/issues that might arise.
I would have to say that I am very satisfied with the training and skills that Jerry has provided us with. Of course, our dogs will never be show dogs, or perfect in the training area, but we got what we wanted out of the training and more. I would definitely recommend Jerry to anyone who is in need of animal training!
Thanks Jerry for all of your help!!

Jerry came to our house to teach our dogs. We have a Chow who is very head-strong and we have an American Bulldog who was distracted easily. Jerry truly worked wonders. Within one class he had taught us little "secrets" that helped us train the dogs. We went to whatever level we needed to go to. No one made us start at sit, our dogs already knew that.
He helped our dog aggressive dog learn to control this behavior, which is very important in society. Our dogs are now a calm pack - and they know that they're not the leaders.
Jerry taught us how we are supposed to behave with the dogs. We have been training with Jerry since late 2008 and still going to the Rudy Park classes. Socialization is important for dogs, too.

JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW ZOEY IS DOING GREAT. WE CAN ACTUALLY GO OUTSIDE WITH ONLY REMOTE COLLAR AND TAKE WALKS AND RUN AROUND THE YARD TO RELEASE A LOT OF ENERGY. WE COULD NOT HAVE DONE THIS WITHOUT YOUR HELP !! WE ARE STILL PRACTICING OUR OTHER COMMANDS TOO. ZOEY WILL NOW SIT AND STAY UNTIL I TELL HER TO COME. SHE STILL HAS HER MOMENTS WHEN SHE FORGETS HER MANNERS AND WANTS TO JUMP BUT THEN SHE IS TOLD TO SIT AND RESPONDS. I CAN NOT THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR THE GUIDANCE YOU GAVE BOTH US !! HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON AT RUDY PARK

Hi Jerry,
I wanted to drop you a quick e-mail to let you know how Betty and Elkie are doing. We took Betty and Elkie to our family cabin along the river this evening. Both dogs stayed right with us. They did explore but as soon as we ask them to come closer they listened. Both dogs also played in the river. They both really enjoyed themselves. I think they will have a great time this summer!
Everything has been going just as well at home. The girls no long have accidents in the house. In addition, both girls stay in the yard with us and listen great! We are very grateful to you for providing us with the guidance it took to train both Scott and I.
I did not forget about writing you a testimonial. I should have something finished by the end of the week. Thanks again for all of your help Jerry!
Sincerely,
Pam, Scott, Zachary, Elkie, and Betty Runkle

Just wanted to update you Jerry - feel free to use this as a testimonial. "I really wanted to get a puppy but was scared. We had a lab puppy a few years ago and couldn't control it. My daughter was afraid of her constant jumping and nibling, she went all over the house, and it turned into a nightmare. We had to give her away. This time we got two small terriers. I was really worried they'd turn our brand new home upside down, jump and bite the kids, and basically be uncontrollable. I am happy to report that with Jerry Mace's help the puppies are absolutely joy! As I am writing this upstairs, the puppies are sitting outside of the crate! I completely trust them not to chew things or go in the house. They are also almost completely trained to come, sit, stay, lay down, and go crate. They no longer bark while I put food into their bowls - instead, they quietly and patiently wait and watch me. When I say "ok", they start eating - truly amazing! Our friends and family can't believe what we've done! Also, with the tools Jerry gave us, my son now taught one of the puppies to fetch his ping-pong ball. His positive re-enforcement methods totally work and I am so fortunate Jerry was able to come and help us! I wish I would've known about him years ago before we had to give our lab away. Thank you Jerry!" - Milana , York PA

Laya is doing fantastic. She stays in our yard even when the neighbors and their dog are out. She is doing extremely well walking on the heel command. However, I did try using another collar once and had to come right back to get the one we got from you. We have been working with her, using the remote collar, on jumping up and nipping. We are so impressed with her and thankful to you for helping us out!! Thanks, Tiff

Hi, Jerry. I wanted to share some pictures of Hershey and Emmy in their new home, especially on their owner's bed. They're at the point where they're rolling on their backs when they go out for a walk on a leash or to accept belly rubs. They love to go in the crate even though the door is always open. Hershey gets spooked sometimes, but she's improved so much! This is such a great story. Thanks for rescuing them! Silvia

Jerry I am finally taking a minute out to e-mail you and say once again "Thank-You". You came to my home on March 5th and picked up my son's dog (who has become my dog). Bixie is a almost 3 year old Jack Russell and Spitz mixed. He was very high strung, liked to bark a lot, but the worst thing was that he would bark and go after people he was afraid of. This included children. Behind closed doors Bixie is a fun loving dog. Whenever he felt threatened he would attack people. I had so many people tell me that I should have him put down or get rid of him. I have grown very attached to him and decided he never really had a fair chance from the beginning. So when my son moved out Bixie was my problem. I was told about your service and made the call. It was the best phone call I could have ever made. You took Bixie for a month and he came home with a new and better life. Bixie is not afraid any more and listens so well.!! I now have the family and friends come to our home and they cannot believe this is the same dog. I am so proud of him and all that he has accomplished. Thanks for making Bixie's life so much better and mine as well. I will highly recommend you to anyone that needs help with their dog. I hope that this letter will help other people that may be thinking there is no way to fix your dog's problem. I am a true believer that everyone deserves a second chance!!! Thank you so very much! And I look forward to doing future business with you! Thanks, Mary (proud owner of Bixie")

Hi Jerry,
Just wanted to update you on Will. It did take about a month or so before he got used to us but he is totally in love with both my husband and I! Other than getting on the furniture when we are not home, (the sneaky little guy!) he is absolutely perfect! I did however, have to make some concessions about the cleanliness of my home but he is very much worth it!
We love him very much and we are so grateful to you for bringing him into our lives! He will get to try camping with us soon!
Thank you Jerry and if the family he came from ever wants to know how he is doing please reassure them he is very much loved!

Hi, Jerry. Just wanted to let you know that Emmy and Hershey have been vetted, Emmy spayed, and had a good bath. They look really good. They're in a foster home, and I hope they get adopted this Sunday when they go and charm everyone at the adoption day. Hershey has come out of her shell and charmed everyone during her stay at the kennel. I'll let you know when they get adopted. Thank you for rescuing them. Silvia

Good Afternoon Jerry,

He is a HUGE pit bull that weighs in at 100 lbs and we named him Sarge. He also passed the test w/ Catalina yesterday so we are legal w/ my home owners insurance. Thanks for all of your help!

A TRUE LIFESAVER
January 2008 we brought to our home a 10 week old black ball of fur. Our ball of fur grew and as she did so became a fearful, timid, aggressive German Shepherd monster. We had to keep her away from strangers, in or out of our house.
Recognizing a serious situation, we turned to the Classified Ads and found what seemed to be an answer to our problem. A home consultation with the trainer was arranged. The puppy performed as she did around all strangers-aggressive, vicious barking, fur up and tail between her legs. Upon seeing this we were told she was incorrigible, a danger to everyone including us and euthanasia was the only answer. We were devastated, but not convinced that there was no other solution.
Back to the Classified Ads. This time we found "My Dog Needs Help". That was definitely true! Another home consultation, this time with Jerry Mace. The puppy reacted just as she did to the first trainer. However, Jerry said "She is not incorrigible. I can and will work with her". Our prayers were answered.
With infinite patience, skill, love and lots of hot dog bites, Jerry won her trust and friendship. After six sessions, she now walks by our side when leashed, stays until called and greets strangers with a friendly bark welcoming their pat on her head. Thanks to Jerry Mace our monster is now a content, happy, lovable and loving one year old.

Dear Mr. Mace,
Carl and I wish to express our sincere appreciation for the wonderful job you did training our Brittany puppy Molly. Being from a very high-spirited breed, Molly’s strong will was proving to be too much for us. Your techniques have allowed us to develop effective ways with which to address our issues with her and to maintain a loving relationship with her at the same time.
I think the aspect that impressed me most was the very logical and practical way you addressed her issues. You took the time to observe Molly and recognized her individual needs rather than using generic methods that may or may not have applied to her. As a result, her training needs were met in a relatively short time and continue to be effective while we maintain consistency with her.
You communicated extremely well with us, as well as with Molly. Your explanations of the philosophies supporting you training methods helped us to better understand Molly’s issues and how the training technique would address these needs.
We appreciate your professionalism and would gladly recommend you to other dog owners in need of guidance.
Sincerely,
Carl & Bettina Malinak

Then I called Jerry now we get complements on how well behaved he is.Now that we have our basic training everything else that needs to be done is a piece of cake.He is more responsive to new commands and continues to make progress.

Rough wrestling with the puppies. Getting on the furniture. Would not heal or obey any commands (He had been trained by two other so called trainers)
Our 2 Miniature Schnauzer puppies: Barking when not wearing anti bark collars, jumping up on people all of the time, not house broken, chewing on everything in sight ,very destructive on furniture, chewing cushions, plants, tables, chairs, wild behavior, unable to walk on a leash, run away from me and not come when called,
2)Were we able to fix these problems: Yes
3)Would you recommend us to a friend: Yes
4)Please write a brief testimony as to the positive effects of our training on you and your pet:
Charlie listens to commands and obeys now. Heels on command. Comes when called. He doesn't climb on the furniture anymore. He no longer chases moving objects. All of his incessant barking has disappeared. He no longer wrestles with the puppies. Overall, he is a well behaved pet. Problems with puppies resolved. Puppies returned one month later. They are a lot different - no longer a wild bunch, no jumping up, and they no longer chew everything in site. They no longer run away and they come when called. Overall, they are well behaved and well trained puppies.
We could not be more appreciative of Jerry's efforts and talents. Jerry has provided us with weekly return visits to work with the puppies and Charlie.
We are so appreciative of the magic he performed on our dogs. We are not sure if we can ever thank him enough!
Thank You
Joan and Evelyn (and the "whole crew")

In the adults with titles class this year the judge was presented with an impressive selection of top quality dogs. VA-1 1997 USA Sieger was awarded to Lasso vom Neuen Berg SchH3. 6 year old Lasso is co-owned by Kurt Maier of Germany and US Schutzhunder Steve Miller of Sun Prairie WI. Other participants that I interviewed subsequent to the show said he is a spectacular dog and was an excellent choice for the Sieger title. Steve's wife Connie tells me that the dog will continue to live in Germany until after the Welt Sieger and then he will come to the USA to live with Steve. Connie Miller told me that Lasso is bred to Larissa V. Bad Boll SchH3 with pups due in late March. VA-2 was awarded to Larry V. Grapenhof SchH3, a young dog from Mechanicsburg, Pa. and owned by Jerry Mace and Martha Melville.
